A perfect Saturday!

Tim took today off of work so we could attend a twin event for families in our area. Normally Tim works every Saturday, boo! Anyways, today was just an awesome day. The kids slept well and Tim's parents arrived this morning to hang out with Sofia one on one while we went to the party. Sofia was more than welcome to attend but Tim's parents came over to pick up a cell phone left behind and to check out our Christmas parade and festivities.

The twin Christmas party was nice, it was fun seeing all the kids having a great time. More than anything, it was so nice to talk to other people who are going through the same thing that Tim and I are. A lot of the families had older siblings when they had twins so we could relate to several families. It was also nice because since Tim and I are new to the area with three small children we don't get out a lot and we haven't had a lot of time to make friends our age. This is such an adjustment from Memphis. In Memphis we had a fantastic group of friends made up from Tim's classmates, my coworkers and church friends. We also didn't have three kids to find babysitters for. Even when we had Sofia we still went to every event we would've normally attended, besides going to bars. The boys had their first Santa experience, it didn't phase them at all.

After the twin party we went home and Tim and his Dad were able to get a water line hooked up to our "new to us" refrigerator. Tim's parents got a new fridge and gave us their nice stainless steel fridge that has twice the space of our old fridge. We also attempted to take our Christmas picture, I have yet to determine if we have any photographs that will do. Trying to get three kids to smile and look is nearly impossible. While Sofia and the boys napped, we taught Tim's parents how to play one of our favorite games, Carcassone.

We ate an early dinner and made our way downtown for the Christmas parade. It rained most of the day which prevented us from going to the festivities in the afternoon but the rain stopped and we had a gorgeous evening for a parade. The turnout was amazing, we ran into our pastor who estimate there were 4,000 of the 10,000 residents of Port Washington present for the parade. This was also Sofia's first parade. I can't tell you the joy I experienced watching the parade with my darling daughter. She was so excited about every little thing. She kept saying "Nice" or "oh wow!" and did a lot of clapping. Her favorite parts of the parade was the high school dance team (she started dancing when they walked by) and the Sesame street characters. There was a hot air balloon that had some awesome fire effects that scared her a little bit when it was close. Sofia was also surprised when people threw candy, by the end of the parade she was a pro. She was so cute grabbing the candy and bringing it back to Tim and I to hold. I feel so lucky to be this little girl's mother and to be a mother period. Life is sweet when you get to experience it through your childrens' eyes. It was such a nice parade and made me so happy that we chose such a lovely little lakeside town to live in. The charm and friendliness of our town is amazing. There were supposed to be fireworks after the parade but the rain earlier in the day caused the town to cancel that. Hopefully we'll see those next year.

Once we got home Tim's parents helped us get all the kids in bed and then they went home. Tim and I have spent our evening sitting by the fire, sipping wine and watching the Badgers. I can't think of a better Saturday. Here are some pictures from the parade.
